Departing Auckland on this New Zealand adventure, we make our way to Northland, a region that is very small but blessed with two contrasting coastlines. Firstly, we drive the West Coast to reach the Bay of Islands stopping at Paihia for a couple of nights. You will visit Cape Reinga and 90 Mile Beach on a full day tour and then drive down the East Coast to Leigh and the marine reserve of Goat Island. Rotorua, our next stop, is the North Island’s most popular tourist destination; countless ground fissures, hot and steamy thermal activity, healing mineral pools and surrounding lakes, Maori culture, architecture, song and dance. Continuing south east via Taupo to Hawkes Bay, you get to sample some fabulous NZ wine whilst on a winery bike tour - or you can visit the art deco lined streets of Napier. Wellington, our capital city, is next. We then board the ferry to cross Cook Straight and enter the snow capped South Island through the stunning Queen Charlotte Sound. Passing through Marlborough, New Zealand’s top producing wine region, we continue driving along the rugged coast to Kaikoura where you can opt to whale watch or swim with dolphins. We then arrive in Christchurch where this New Zealand tour will end.
