Classic NZ New Zealand Tour
23 Days New Zealand: Auckland to WellingtonTour Type: Overland Camping, Hostels, Lodges.
Departing Auckland our first stop on this classic New Zealand tour is Karangahake Gorge and Rotorua. After traveling on one of the last true back country highways, we spend time at Lake Waikaremoana and the Hawkes Bay Wine region. Hawkes Bay, New Zealand’s oldest wine producing region where you can sample some fine NZ wines during a bike tour. From here we travel via the Wairarapa and Cape Palliser to New Zealand’s vibrant capital, Wellington, our last stop in the North Island. We board our ferry for the South Island and then travel through Molesworth Station before visiting Kaikoura and Hanmer Springs. After time in Christchurch, you spend unforgettable time in a High Country Station before stopping at Lake Tekapo and then pass through Central Otago - the middle of the South Island. The scenery changes dramatically as we head into the Southern Lakes and Fiordland regions to visit Milford Sound. Then it’s time for adrenalin junkies to jump out of planes, off bridges, and raft down rushing rivers as we arrive in Queenstown. We then drive up the West Coast past Pukekura, Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers and Punakaiki - Pancake Rocks to Abel Tasman National Park. Via Nelson, we ferry back into the North Island where your tour ends in Wellington.
